Land & Property

Our specialists can assist in a range of VAT & Tax areas
Tax liability on land and property is one of the most complex areas of VAT. The transactions are often of very high value, so they need to be correctly structured from a VAT perspective. This will ensure that any eligible VAT or SDLT savings are realised and that the transaction is compliant with the law.
Deeks VAT Consultancy has a wealth of experience in this area and can ensure that a business is paying the correct amount of VAT, Tax and SDLT on land and property transactions.
Such transactions are often a one-off for clients, and getting it wrong can result in huge penalty charges.
For instance, land or property transactions can be subject to VAT at different rates. We can advise on the VAT liabilities of certain interests of land, and on what reliefs are available. This can be for both construction and conversion projects, on either residential and commercial property. We also offer planning advice on efficient structures, so as to ensure maximum recovery of VAT on purchases.
We can also offer advice on business sales when land and property is part of the sale. Significant cash flow savings can be achieved by meeting the conditions for a transfer of a business as a going concern, as well as SDLT savings.
Deeks VAT Consultancy considers not only whether a property may be subject to VAT, but what might be the best outcome for the client. Whilst still retaining its commercial objective, we’ll often influence a transaction in order to ensure it’s as VAT efficient as possible.
