VAT Recruitment & Training

Train with us

Dealing with VAT can be complex and confusing, so it’s advisable to have at least one person within your organisation who has the necessary expertise. Deeks VAT Consultancy offers bespoke in-house VAT training services, for any kind of business, industry or commercial enterprise. This will minimise the risk of expensive errors and reduce the likelihood of penalties. In some cases, training has even been a requirement of HMRC when looking to suspend a penalty.

Our VAT training programmes are customised to suit the needs and specific activities of your business and your designated VAT trainees. Arrangements can be made for individuals or groups, in person or by remote video conferencing.

Under the current penalty regime adequate staff training is evidence of “reasonable care” being taken by the organisation, so if penalties were issued, they are likely to be at a lower level than where there has been no staff training.

However, the best position to be in is to not have a penalty issue at all. This is where training can be vital.

Training can be cost-effective:

“During a recent training event an accounting error was discovered from questions asked by an attendee. As a result, the business was able to recover more than £100,000 in overpaid VAT from HMRC.” Jane Deeks, Managing Director Deeks Vat

Recruitment Support / In-House Support

If you’re a larger business looking to recruit an internal VAT expert, we can help you assess potential candidates. Deeks VAT Consultancy can provide you with in-house support and supply the expertise you need to judge applicants’ VAT technical skills.

We will not make the recruitment decision for you, but we can assist in the interview process to ensure that the candidate has the relevant VAT technical skill set required to meet the needs of the business, minimising the risk of an expensive recruitment mistake.

Furthermore, we can provide assistance when determining the VAT needs of the business, and tailor your recruitment process to suit.

Deeks VAT Consultancy can also provide in house support on all VAT matters, while the business decides what its VAT recruitment needs are or to fill the gap during the recruitment process.

This in-house support can be for ad hoc projects or for agreed periods such as a set number of hours per week, monthly or quarterly.
